Resolutions...

So, in my excitement to post my "best of 2012" post yesterday, I completely forgot to tell you all about the resolutions I have made this year!
They are really nice ones and I'm actually looking forward to getting stuck in! Here they are...

1. Continue at the gym.
I go back to Bournemouth tomorrow, so back to the gym on Monday....and I genuinely am so excited! I never ever thought I would be the kind of person to go to the gym regularly but since I signed up in October I've got completely addicted!! I don't actually weigh myself, but have definitely seen a change in my body, and I also feel happier, more active, and more comfortable with eating, which are certainly all good things!! I've decided to weigh myself in February just to see how much I do weigh, but whatever it is I'm not going to let the number bother me too much- because either way I feel happy in myself! In short, gym is good!
2. Give Blood
This is something I have wanted to do for years and years and years, but for varying reasons have never been able to. At the end of last year I was told to come back in the New Year because my iron levels were a bit low, so as soon as I'm back in Bournemouth I am going to scout out my nearest blood drive and get straight on it- as soon as I've eaten plenty of spinach...
3. Blog Overhaul
Something I promised you all I would do, and I actually got the wheels in motion for this one today! I want to make Alas, I Cannot Swim look really, really incredible, so watch this space!
4. Investigate writing and photography job opportunities
With my graduation imminent, I'm starting to really think about what I want to do when I finish. I have a few very exciting ideas in the pipeline....for the moment these won't be paid, though. Basically, the idea behind this one is to utilise my skills and earn a bit of money from it!!
5. Try and save money...
uh oh, the big one....I don't think I'm alone in wanting to do this, I just want to be a bit more careful with my money management and expenditures. Shouldn't be too hard...right!?
6. Watch more films
Despite just about being able to compile a top 5 films of the year, watching films is actually something I am REALLY BAD at, due to major indecisiveness, losing interest quickly, and loads of other reasons!! I've started by making a list of films due to come out at the cinema this year that I really want to see, and I also want to take the time to watch some of the classics which have somehow just passed me by, and I've never seen (Star Wars, for example!!) Any suggestions are very welcome!!
7. Write and Draw more
2 things that I love to do, and am actually pretty good at doing when I spend some time on them!! I've been carrying around a notepad in my bag for jottings and doodles when they come to me. I'm also planning a couple of really exciting writing ventures which I hope will come to fruition later on this year..!!

So, those are this years aims! Lets hope they go well... most of them are quite nice, I don't think I'm pushing myself too hard. Do you have any resolutions?

  1. These sound brilliant Sian! I wouldn't worry about trying to save money whilst being a student, I always found it bloody impossible! And one thing that MAY help your film watching is lovefilm, I have a free 2 month trial voucher if you want it, I've watched so many good films since having it and I only pay £8 a month.

You've inspired me to do a similar post xx

  2. :) Thanks Ala, how are you? Oh god money is JUST the bain of my life, and I only have 6 months left of the being a student excuse! I'm not sure how far I will get with that one but will give it a shot anyway.
Do you know, I had a LoveFilm account last year and was actually quite unimpressed...but I might give Netflix a go? I started watching Twin Peaks last night (which is actually a TV series but hey ho) and really enjoyed it, AND am considering treating myself to the cinema (on my own!!) after my dissertation hand in on Thurs!! So we shall see!!! I'm gonna have a little mooch through your blog now :) xxxx
