New Years Resolutions

So, I'm aware I'm quite late to the party here with it being the second-to-last day of January... BUT! My excuse is, I wanted to see if I could actually stick to my resolutions this year. So here are my resolutions, and how well I've been doing with them...

1. Be healthy!!
The plan was...
-excersize every day, sit ups and leg lifts
-yoga 3x a week
-skate regularly
-eat healthily and ENJOY FOOD!!!!!
-cook, using my lovely cookbooks and apron that my brother got me for christmas!
So far, this has been going...okay. I have been doing my sit ups and leg lifts every morning, and I have been skating but not as much as I'd like to. I've also not managed to get into a yoga routine yet which is rubbish, because when I do, I do it every morning! I've been eating healthily BUT not taking the time to cook which again I'm a bit annoyed at myself about...however most of the underacheivement here is because I've been in London doing work experience, so in an unfamiliar house and situation, with a low supply of food and little spare time. But no excuses when I go back to Bournemouth on Sunday!!

2. Read regularly. Perhaps not a book a week, but find time to read.
This one was inspired by my darling Amy, who set herself the task last year of reading a book a week. I changed it slightly, just because I didn't want to end up feeling bad for not finishing a book every week when I'm snowed under with uni work. But this one has been going really well!!! I love reading, and have been a bookworm ever since I was tiny. So far this year I have finished reading "A Million Little Pieces" by James Frey- my favorite book, which I have read before. I then read "The Help" by Katherine Stockett which was a really incredible book, and just last night I started reading "War Horse" by Michael Morpurgo (I'm a real snob when it comes to reading the book before seeing the film). HOWEVER, the one thing I have most definitely failed on with this resolution was that I made a promise to myself that I wouldn't buy any more books until I had read all of the books on my shelf which I hadn't ever got round to reading (a very substantial list...) but sure enough, it wasn't long until I bought both "The Help" and "Warhorse". At least I've started reading them promptly, I guess.

3. Continue skating. Get good. Join Roller Derby team.
My first resolution which I actually think I'm doing really well in!!! I started skating back in September and totally fell in love with it (excersize has always been such a chore for me, but I when I started skating I found something I truley fell in love with... so for any excersize-phobes like me, keep trying!! you'll find something!). I've been skating loads since being back in Bournemouth, and the girls and I have also sourced a few ROLLER DISCO'S!!! (Which will be SO amazing!) We have also been invited to the local Roller Derby training sessions with the Dorset Roller Girls!!! Unfortunately I'm missing the first session with being in London, but once I'm back it's all systems go!!

4. Get an article or photo published. I'm working on it!

5. Funnily enough, number 5 was make the most of More! work experience. Check!

6. Write!

7. Knit!

8. Draw!

9. See new places. I'm totally obsessed with St Petersburg at the moment but I think I'll feel a bit short changed going here for a summer holiday... However all seems to be going well on the seeing the world front, as my girl Amy and I are planning a trip to Florence in August!!

10. Write letters. I've really LOVED doing this, I bought myself a gorgeous notebook from Oxfam made from recycled wrapping paper, and I also bought myself a posh address book to keep things organised...I've written 3 letters so far, fully intend to keep going!! People only get letters from the dentist these days... So something personal is always nice :)

I also decided as of about 2 hours ago that I want this year to be the year I start giving blood. I always put it off because I was under the impression you had to wait 12 months after getting a tattoo, but it turns out its only 4!! So I sent off for a starter pack today...and will keep you posted with how this venture goes
